Performance Testing as a Life-Cycle Activitiy

When we think of performance testing we often imagine a technical, tool-driven type of test which only specialists conduct. Certainly we need tools and technical expertise for these tests, but experience tells us that performance testing often go wrong because of poor planning, incorrect test specification and failure to communicate results properly. In short, we need to adopt a systematic approach which covers all aspects of the testing life-cycle.
In this presentation, Graham Bath will describe the many and varied issues we need to consider when planning our performance tests, how to develop effective performance test cases which properly address testing risks and goals, how to avoid problems in test execution, and how to communicate your results in an understandable way.
The knowledge you obtain from this presentation will allow you to make better decisions about your performance tests and prevent you from making potentially very expensive mistakes. You will have a better overall view of the issues to be addressed and can set up a systematic, well-balanced plan for performance testing in your project.
