Making a method work

Within Rabobank testing evolved from single testers as members of the development team to a centralized test competence centre in 3 years time.
In this presentation we will evaluate the steps that were taken to achieve this goal. The development of the Rabobank test method called "START” contributed to this process.
The foundations of this method consist of:
Requirements and risk based testing
Implementation of a dedicated delivery unit for the test infrastructure
Creation of teams with different test roles and assigning them on program level
A department appointed to keeping the START method up to date and the verification of application by all members of the Test Centre.

The next step in the development and implementation of the Rabobank "START" method is making it work in combination with an off-shore partner in 2008.
The challenges we met and solutions we found during implementation of this method will be illustrated by examples from the "START" test approach within the SEPA program.
